This is the reason why the Japanese version is still the best of all. Noaki is shown developing feelings for her and changing his attitude along the way but in the korean version he was a jerk through and through.

I got addicted to watching Irie Naoki's POV analyses here in YT. Like I wasn't able to catch some of those tiny details when I was watching the series. So if I'm going to rewatch this series, it'll be with a whole new level of kilig. 😂

keita was very wrong, but I use to like him anyway... he treated kotoko better than naoki, actually anyone would treat her better than him
The anime and Japanese drama will always be my favorite. Not much of a fan of the other versions. The actress for Kotoko here is so cute. Keita in this drama is pretty good looking too :)
Kieta isn’t making any sense. Which guy, in their right mind, would let another man drive his drunk wife home WHILE HE THE HUSBAND IS THERE, such so that he could go back to having “fun”with his friends? No respectable man (or husband) would do that. And such a man is questionable for divorce cuz he doesn’t have his properties straight.
Even if the couple is in the middle of a cold-war or not, no husband would agree on some random guy (who he just met) to drive his drunk wife home. That’s madness.
Neither is it the place of a stranger to butt into other people’s marital issues if they have no clear understanding of what’s going on. It’s not for him to tell Naoki whether or not he cares for his wife or loves her. As an outsider, his words and actions can bring about tension and misunderstanding, only making things worse.
Well, to be fair, to anyone looking at them as a couple, they would make the same assumption that Naoki doesn't love her. Especially with what comes next. Keita isn't technically an outsider either because he is Kotokos' friend. He does overstep majorly because his feelings go deeper than friendship, but naoki treating his own wife as a nuisance in front of everyone, especially co-workers, invites unwanted attention from others.
Like literally the first half of the episode is her telling people they are married and them not believing her.The other nurses are using her to get her husband to come to the party so they can essentially get his attention. Naoki is not dumb. He knows that. He sits away from her. He is surrounded by women and barely looks at his wife. He comes because she wants him to, but is annoyed that she wants him to, so he ignores her. He only shows interest when it is clear that keita is close with her.
Was keita wrong for saying and doing what he did? Yeah, but Naoki is wrong, too. You can't be married, and then treat your wife like you don't care in public, then be angry that people make assumptions that you don't care. Can't be angry at people who care about her to see the situation and not try to convince her to leave. Ignoring your spouse is cold violence. Cold violence is still violence. The reality is that Naoki is abusive and neglectful to her. There are lots of reasons for this. And yes, we know he loves her. But even she doubts it. She doubts it because he is the way he is to her. He gets better as they go through the series because he needs to grow as a person, and she does too. But the reality of their relationship is that to outside people it does not seem like a strong one. And we can like naoki all we want, but he IS an asshole to her. The entire time.
This version shows more of his internal thoughts a bit better. But he married her because he was jealous. He married her because he thought he was going to lose her. If things didn't progress the way they did, she would have been chasing him all through university until he was done with playing that game to accept her. He still would have married her because he always loved her. But he would have tortured her for years until he was ready to get married. That's the reality. So naoki brought this shit on himself. And kotoko like always, is the one who suffers for it until he pulls his head out of his ass.

I like this version best. I enjoy the Korean version, but don't feel it was as developed as it could've been. Not so much a fan of the Chinese version.
Irie is a stoic turd in any version, but Furukawa's portrayal I think was the best. He really pulled off the cold genius. Chinese seemed like he was a jerk for the sake of being a jerk. Joong Ki fell somewhere in the middle. Is there a Thai version?
