Latona is a Knightmare, a spirit born when a noble or ruler is killed as the result of treachery. Latona doesn't remember her old life as a diplomat, and she forged a bond with The Brass Lady to protect others where she once failed and also to restore her memories as a diplomat in hopes to end the civil war she once failed to stop. As a Knightmare, she can possess mortals and bestow upon them martial prowess as well as use her armor-like form to protect them.

Knightmares originate from Shami Stoval's Frith Chronicles. I picked up her books on a whim years ago and had a great time so I highly recommend.
